Bed Bug Chemical Spray Treatment

Our technicians have applied chemical spray as a backup on heat treatment jobs throughout more than 20 years in pest control. Because so many of you keep asking for it on its own, we’re now offering it as a standalone, budget-friendly option for early-stage, light infestations.

Backed By 20+ Years of Backup Spraying

We still stand by heat treatment as the single best method of resolving a bed bug infestation — it’s the only treatment we guarantee. But chemical spraying isn’t new to us.

Our Built-In Safety Net

On the day of every heat treatment we carry out, we also apply a chemical spray as a secondary backup — in case any bugs have somehow survived the heat. It’s rare, but it’s part of how we’ve delivered consistent results for two decades. That means spray application isn’t a new sideline for us; it’s something our technicians do on almost every single job.

Why We’re Now Offering It On Its Own

We continuously get asked whether we’ll do the spray by itself, without the full heat treatment. So we’re now offering it as a standalone service. Whatever the reason you’re asking — sometimes it’s a budget issue, sometimes it’s a high-rise flat that makes heat equipment tricky to get in, sometimes you just want the cheaper option tried first — we’ll do it for you.

Is Chemical Spray Right For You?

We’d rather tell you this upfront than have you disappointed. A single chemical spray visit is a genuinely useful option in the right situation — but it isn’t a like-for-like replacement for heat treatment, and we want you going in with the right expectations.

The honest truth about what spray alone can and can’t do

If it has only been a matter of days since bed bugs were brought into your home, a spray treatment alone may well sort the problem out completely. But if the bed bugs have had time to lay eggs — which happens quickly — a single spray will not fully resolve the infestation, because eggs are far more resistant to insecticide than adult bugs. That’s the main reason heat treatment remains our recommended, guaranteed solution for anything beyond an early-stage problem.

✓ Good fit for spray-only

  • Just noticed bugs in the last few days
  • No signs of eggs, shed skins or a growing bite pattern
  • Very light, early-stage activity in one small area
  • You want to try the lower-cost option first
  • Access issues that make heat treatment impractical right now (e.g. a high-rise flat)

✕ You should book heat treatment instead

  • Infestation has been going on for more than a week or two
  • You’ve found eggs, shed skins, or bugs in multiple rooms
  • You want a guaranteed, one-visit result
  • A previous spray or shop-bought product hasn’t worked
  • You want our 60-day written guarantee

Whatever Your Reason, We’ll Help

It’s a Budget Issue

£175 for one visit is a lower-cost first step than full heat treatment — no judgement, we’re glad to help either way.

A High-Rise Flat or Tricky Access

Getting heat equipment into some apartments and buildings isn’t always practical. Spray treatment is a straightforward alternative.

Chemical Spray FAQs

Will the chemical spray definitely get rid of my bed bugs?
If it’s a genuinely early-stage, light problem with no eggs laid yet, it very often will. If eggs have already been laid, a single spray visit is unlikely to fully resolve the infestation on its own, because eggs are much more resistant to insecticide than adult bed bugs. We’ll always give you an honest view when we assess your property.
What happens if the spray doesn’t fully clear the problem?
You can upgrade to our full heat treatment at any point — just get in touch. Many customers who start with the spray option end up booking heat treatment afterwards if activity continues, and we’ll always be straight with you about whether that’s needed.
Is it the same product you use as backup on heat treatment jobs?
Yes — it’s the same professional-grade insecticide treatment our technicians apply as standard backup on every heat treatment job, so you’re getting 20+ years of hands-on application experience, not a new or untested service.
Is the spray safe for children and pets?
We’ll talk you through re-entry times and any precautions for your specific property when you book. As with any professional pest treatment, there are guidelines to follow — we’ll make sure you have them in writing.
How quickly can I get a spray treatment booked?
Same-day and next-day slots are often available across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Call 0121 751 3341 or fill in the form below to check availability.
Do you offer a guarantee on the spray-only service?
No — the chemical spray service carries no guarantee. Because a single spray visit can’t reliably kill eggs, we can’t guarantee the outcome, and we’d rather be upfront about that than promise something we can’t stand behind. Our written 60-day guarantee applies to full heat treatment only.

Is this the same as bed bug fumigation?

Not quite — and the difference matters. “Fumigation” properly means filling a sealed space with a gas, and true gas fumigation is not used for bed bugs in UK homes: it requires tenting the property, specialist licensing and evacuation for days. What most companies advertise as bed bug fumigation is actually fogging or spraying — dispersing insecticide as a fine mist around the room.

Fogging looks impressive and reaches surfaces quickly, but it shares the same two weaknesses as any chemical approach: it does not kill eggs, and the mist settles on surfaces rather than penetrating the mattress seams, frame joints and skirting voids where bed bugs actually shelter. It can also scatter a population into neighbouring rooms, turning a one-room problem into a whole-flat one.

Our spray treatment is a targeted application — a technician treating the specific harbourages they can identify, which is considerably more effective than fogging a room at random. But if you came here searching for fumigation because you want the infestation gone in one go, the treatment that genuinely does that is heat treatment: it takes the whole room above 56°C and kills every life stage including the eggs, with no chemical residue at all. Call 0121 751 3341 and we will tell you honestly which of the two your situation needs.
